چکیده
On 25 October 1760 George II, then 76, rose at his normal hour of 6 am, called as usual for his chocolate, and repaired to the close-stool. The German valet de chambre heard a noise, memorably described as "louder than the royal wind,"' and then a groan; he ran in and found the King lying on the floor, having cut his face in falling. Mr Andrews, surgeon to the household, was called and bled His Majesty but in vain, as no sign of life was observed from the time of his fall. At necropsy2 the next day Dr Nicholls, physician to his late Majesty, found the pericardium distended with a pint of coagulated blood, probably from an orifice in the right ventricle, and a transverse fissure on the inner side of the ascending aorta 3-75 cm long, through which blood had recently passed in its external coat to form a raised ecchymosis, this appearance being interpreted as

Silent Dissection of the Aorta.
Dissecting aneurysm of the aorta has been known as a pathological entity for over a century (Maunoir, 1802); it was first diagnosed during life by Swaine (1856), and a full account of its clinical and pathological features was given by Peacock in 1863. Even so, until recently only thirteen accurate ante-mortem diagnoses had been reported (Glendy et al., 1937). Failure to diagnose the condition ...

Mycotic aneurysms are localized and irreversible dilatations of the arteries caused by weakening and damaging the arterial wall by an invasive organism establishing infective arteritis. Mycotic aneurysm of the thoracic aorta is a rare event; however, it can be fatal if not diagnosed early or not treated appropriately. Clinical findings are usually nonspecific; however, c...
متن کاملOutcome of In-Hospital Rebleeding and Early Aneurysm Rupture at the Referral Center
Background and Aim: In-hospital rebleeding and early aneurysm rupture are major causes of mortality and morbidity in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. Rebleeding may occur at the referring hospital, during transfer or at the referral neurovascular center prior to surgical or endovascular treatment. However, there has been no report regarding the rate of in-hospital rebleeding and early aneury...

aneurysms of the vertebrobasilar system has been reported to account for 4.5% of intracranial SAH (1). Since ruptured VA dissecting aneurysms are associated with a higher incidence of rebleeding (2, 3), early diagnosis and treatment are required (4). Due to its lower invasiveness and good outcomes, endovascular treatment has been considered an alternative treatment modality for ruptured VA diss...
متن کاملThe Prognosis in Aortic Dissection (dissecting Aortic Hematoma or Aneurysm).
REVIEWS of collected series of cases of aortic dissection (dissecting aneurysm or hematoma of the aorta) have clearly shown high early mortality." 2 Studies also have shown a relatively low rate of accuracy of diagnosis (50 to 60 per cent). These two factors indicate the present inadequacies of treatment for this condition. In the past, the only treatment available was supportive. More recently...
